Artist Statement: As an artist who works primarily with collage, I am deeply influenced by the improvisational nature of jazz music. I see parallels between the way jazz musicians approach their craft, constantly experimenting and exploring new territory, and the way I approach my own work in collage.

Patrice has spent the greater portion of her life in the pursuit of garden flowers and wildflowers across the state of Wisconsin. Tending and observation of the earth has always been an integral part of her life, which began on a farm in western Iowa. Nature is where her peace, solitude, and inspiration begin. In the summer she photographs flowers from across the state of Wisconsin. In the winter she paints in her 3rd Ward studio. In the summer she paints in her Door County studio. Art is something that Patrice always remembers creating. She pursued this love by studying painting, art history and painting at Drake University. Her graduate degree was completed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She teaches adults and children.

Under The Sky
